30 Extra Leg Drops - WWE Extreme Rules 2015

extremerules.jpgSo here's the deal, I like wrestling.  Well, I think I like wrestling. Ok, so I pay every month for the WWE Network.  That much is 100% true.  So here's the beginning of a new feature where I talk about wrestling and answer a few important questions for each match:

  1. What Happened?
  2. What Should Have Happened?
  3. Why Should You Care?

The plan is mainly to go over more recent pay per views, but while I'm on the Network, I may launch into weird WCW Nitro recaps too.  I don't know yet, but that sounds like the right amount of silly.  Anyway, let's get started and you'll see what I mean.

The Setup: Extreme Rules is supposed to be the big hardcore pay per view.  Though there was more blood at Wrestlemania last month than at this one.  So, yeah. Also, my Apple TV took a long ass time to update so I missed the first 20~ minutes of the show.  Yes, I have 10 other devices connected to my TV that could play it, no I did not care enough to turn any of those on.

Beer of Choice: Fat Tire

Dolph Ziggler def. Sheamus (Kiss Me Arse Match)

  1. Ziggler won, but Sheamus did not kiss his arse.
  2. Sheamus should have kissed Ziggler's arse?
  3. You really shouldn't. I like Dolph a lot, Sheamus is ok, but this was a stupid gimmick.

The New Day def. Tyson Kidd and Cesaro(c) (Tag Team Championship)

  1. We got new tag team champions.
  2. Pretty much what happened.
  3. Tyson and Cesaro are pretty good together, and I really like Big E and the New Day.  It was a fun match and should lead to a good rivalry.

Dean Ambrose def. Luke Harper (Chicago Street Fight)

  1. After "fighting across the streets of Chicago", they ended back in the ring and finished the match.
  2. Sure, that.
  3. Dean Ambrose is a cool dude. I missed the beginning of this match because of the Apple TV issues I had mentioned above, so, I guess I'm glad I caught some of it. Meh.

John Cena(c) def. Rusev (Russian Chain Match for US Championship)

  1. They hit each other with the chain and John touched the four corners of the ring first.
  2. Rusev should have won.  He's now 0-2 against Cena in the last two matches, hard to see how/why they'd have another match, even though they will.
  3. Cena holding the US title and defending it helps it mean something again. And it lets other guys chase after the World championship. Win-win. The standoff at the end of the match over the last corner was appropriately hilarious, dumb, and perfect.

Nikki Bella(c) def. Naomi (Divas Championship)

  1. Pretty standard match with a pinfall victory.
  2. That.
  3. With Paige gone for a while and AJ Lee gone forever, the rest of the Diva's roster needed to step up, and they delivered in this match.  Nikki looks like a good champion and Naomi put on a great match with her.

Roman Reigns def. Big Show (Last Man Standing)

  1. Big Show did not get up when an announcer table was turned over on top of him.
  2. They need to stop putting things on top of people to stop them from getting up.  It seems like a cop-out.
  3. I love Last Man Standing matches. Reigns has been getting better of late and they put on a good match.  But whatever, Big Show smashed a table in half with his hands.  That's just great.

Seth Rollins(c) def. Randy Orton (Cage Match for World Heavyweight Championship)

  1. I don't really know.  My internet broke and I only caught the last 5-10 minutes of this match, but Kane chokeslammed everyone.
  2. With the exception of Kane, Rollins needed to keep the belt.
  3. Rollins is one of the best heel champions since Triple H and he should keep on the run he's having. I'm glad he at least got the last shot in during the match.  If he'd won just because of Kane, that would've been a bummer

Final Score: Not bad. A few good matches and Fat Tire is good beer.
