30 Extra Lives

I finally wrote another review! Strong Bad's Game for the Wii. It's been a while since the last one.

So I did get Madden 09. It's pretty damn fun, but also pretty damn hard. Took me a solid day to throw a pass and not have it intercepted. Also, achievements are way easy, I got like 800 out of it after two days. The last few might take a little longer, but nothing I can't manage. They've also added this EA sports world thing where you creat some crappy looking avatar and you get points to buy fake stuff on the site by playing the game. It is a neat idea, but the actual avatar is so cookie cutter I don't see how people will be able to really differentiate from each other.

The actual gameplay on the other hand is solid. For some odd reason, the frame rate dips during the in between play stuff, but during gameplay it's great. Apparently they haven't changed the franchise or superstar modes since last year, but I wouldn't know. Started in on Franchise (go EAGLES!), but haven't touched superstar yet.

The online is damn near busted. I tried for about a half hour with my friend to set up a game and it just wouldn't work. I remember having the same problem with NHL 08 when that came out. Hopefully it will be addressed soon. I won't be doing a real review of it since it's been so long when I actually cared a bunch about sports games. Though it seems that time has come again.

Did I mention that Secret Invasion kicks ass? The last issue (5) was awesome and really kicked things into high gear. I'm starting to think that Secret Invasion will end with the Skrulls winning the battle and it'll continue for some time. Plus it makes for a convenient way to ignore the Registration Act stuff and have everyone on the same side again. And not to diss Final Crisis, I'm getting more on board with that train with every issue. I think I'll go out of my way to pick up some of the tie-ins.

I've also recently decided to take a dive into some Manga. Black Lagoon. Apparently it's also an anime and kind of popular. I'm digging it thus far, but damn, it's hard getting used to reading backwards.

Just played through the Force Unleashed demo. I know it's just a demo, but...SOLD. I'm way to much of a Star Wars nerd to pass it up and I was having some real fun throwing dudes and things around with force powers. I'm actually excited for the game now.
